Being an orthodontist allows me to watch the transformation my patients go through when they improve their smiles with braces. I love the excitement and concern that each brings with them on their first visit. I see each case as a challenge to exceed expectations and help patients overcome their fears. I may not change the world with braces, but if I can change it for one child, it will be worth it!
A Strong Foundation
It was important to me to receive an education that would instill trust and confidence in my patients. I attended Washington University in St. Louis where I earned my Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. My orthodontic specialty degree was earned at the University of Iowa.
I pride myself on providing my patients with the most state-of-the-art treatment techniques and equipment. I average three times the state requirements for continuing education in order to ensure that my practice stays current with advanced orthodontic technology. I regularly lecture in the orthodontic department at University of Iowa helping new doctors learn and excel.
Staying Involved
I am a proud member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Rocky Mountain Society of Orthodontists, the Albuquerque District Dental Society, the New Mexico Orthodontic Association, the Academy of Sports Dentistry, and the Academy of Laser Dentistry. I am also a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.
Giving Back
I am very involved with my church where I have served as a missionary (spending two years in Spain), a Sunday school teacher, a scoutmaster, a pianist, as well as many leadership positions. I am also active in high school athletics where I have provided mouthguards for over 10 years, as well as being the team dentist, photographer, and booster club president. I currently serve on the Committee on Information Technology for the American Association of Orthodontists where I specialize in educating orthodontists nationwide about information technology (especially the use of social media)
My Family and Me
A native of Moberly, Missouri, I have lived in Albuquerque now for over 20 years. My wife Cheryl and I have been married for 26 years and have three children. Brian is a computer expert who trains companies worldwide on technology. Brent went on a two-year mission for the LDS church and has returned to college where he is studying to become an orthodontist. Our youngest Brooke is a senior class president at her high school where she is very active in school athletics. In my free time I enjoy SCUBA diving, snow skiing, working out, and sports photography. I also have a love for playing the piano, singing, and attending concerts (Boston, Rush, Maroon 5, etc.)
